Organized by the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, Art Fair on the Square features music, entertainment, and outdoor dining, as well as fine works of art in mixed media, ceramics, drawings, graphics, prints, fiber, leather, furniture, glass, jewelry, metal, paintings, photographs, sculpture, 3D mixed media, and wood.
Approximately 450 artists were chosen to participate this year from a pool of 1,650 applicants. Selected artists come from across the country, and nearly 30 percent will be exhibiting at the fair for the first time.
This is a free event and approximately 200,000 visitors are expected. This is the biggest fundraiser for the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, which earns money from concession sales, sponserships and booth fees. True Madisonians or wantabes will be able to purchase "veggie burgers" from concession stands as well as other foods. You can also get ice cold beer and "cheesecake on a stick."
